but now I’m back. Thursday was the girls’ birthday. Friday was party prep. Saturday was the big birthday party. Sunday was all about church, playing with new toys in the backyard and visiting with family from out of town. Those were all the things that took precedence over opening the computer and writing blog posts, keeping up on Twitter, and taking Instagram snaps.

First things first, a HUGE thanks to everyone who helped with the girls’ party. My mom, Cathy, Sarah and Rebecca all helped get things done, so I could actually breathe and enjoy the day. Thanks ladies!

Second, I want to link up with Sara’s obsessions post, so here are the things that are making me a happy camper these days:

1. The awesome new toys that C and V got for their birthday. They got colorful foam blocks, puzzles, a bubble mower, a mini basketball hoop, pop-up books, the Play-Doh fun factory, new markers, plush kitties, Matchbox cars, a soccer ball, a bunch of hair pretties and accessories to carry around in their purses (with which they are obsessed), and a sandbox. The girls are having so much fun with all the exciting, new toys and I can’t get enough of watching them play and laugh. My daughters are blessed beyond anything I could ever imagine.

2. Warm, summery weather is making me so happy. My gals have been running around barefoot outside and playing in their swimming pool. I can hang laundry on the clothes lines and it dries in just a couple hours. The garden is growing and being productive. Best of all, when V and C get grouchy, I can put their shoes on and take them for a walk around the neighborhood. It wears them out, keeps them from bickering, and I get a smidge of exercise.

3. We had the girls’ birthday party at Bay Beach Amusement Park. Everybody should be so lucky, as to have a great, local park like this. There is no fee to get in. Rides are $0.25 or $0.50 each, except for the roller coaster, which is only $1 a ride. How crazy is that? This year, Veronica and Clarissa can ride almost everything and they loved every ride they went on. It just made me happier than ever to see my littles laughing and smiling and begging to go on the rides. There’s a whole lot of joy to be had for just a few dollars.
